One passenger suddenly got sick, the train had to stop for rescue.
It did not take much time than I thought,
But the conductor said “We are sorry for three minutes delay”.
After returning country where many things are not punctual,
I feel that it’s nothing!
今や英語の音声教材はネットから無料で手に入る。10年前までは教則本についていたCDかラジオの英会話講座を録音していたのがうそのような充実振りである。
しかし逆に数が多すぎてどれを選んだらいいのやらという状況でもある。
そんなわけで今後当サイトでは実際に管理人が聞いてみて、お勧めのポッドキャストを取り上げてみようと思う。
これはフィリピン留学に限った話ではなく、留学全般についての話題。
仮に短期であっても日本から携帯を持って行って使うなどということは、費用の面でも安定性の面でもお勧めできない。
実際にフィリピンではグローバル対応の携帯を持って行ったが、Eメールがどうしても受信できなかった。
(SMSは大丈夫だったけど、パケット関連が全滅のようだ)
こういったときに便利なのは現地で使える携帯・スマートフォンを持っていくこと。
東南アジアの場合、単なる通話だけの端末であれば1000円程度で購入できる。
ただしほとんどの人は海外でスマートフォンを使いたいだろうから、その場合は10000円近く出して、現地のローエンドモデルを買うことになる。
この場合日本語を使うのに苦労する可能性があるので、そこはあらかじめ覚悟しておくべし。
日本でもSIMフリー 通販などで検索するといろいろ出てくるので、お勧めは海外展開しているメーカーのエントリーモデル。
SONYやらSamsungやらの海外モデルが一万円前半で購入できる。
ハイエンドなのを買うと盗難や紛失時のダメージがでかいので、やめておこう！
語学学習をしていると動画のスピードを変えたいということが往々にしてある。
音声を可変で再生するものは数多いが、動画で可変となると数は限られてくる。
そんななかもう一年近くにわたって安定運用しているAndroidの動画再生速度可変プレーヤーがDice Playerである。
マシンのスペックが許せば2倍速まで、0.1倍速単位で再生速度を上げ下げすることができる。
（ただし自分の非力スマホだと、途切れなく聞こえるのは1.8倍が限度）
これで1.5倍速再生になれたあと普通のスピードで再生するとやたらゆっくりに聞こえます。
これは孫悟空が100倍の重力で鍛えたのと同じトレーニング方法ってことで、効果のほどは実証済みなのである。
BBC Learning Englishではとても多くのPodcastを提供しています。
あまりに多いのでどれを選んでよいのやらという状況ではありますが、
自分が聞いているPodcastをレビューしていきたいと思います。

このプログラムは主にイディオムをショートダイアログの形式で紹介するものです。一本あたり3分程度なので日々の隙間時間に聞くとよいでしょう。
ただし使われているイディオムは大学受験やTOEIC対策勉強ではあまり耳にする機会のないものばかり、実際に自分で使ってまで身に着けるのは厳しいでしょう。
このプログラムの利用方法としては、ショートダイアログがイギリス英語で行われるので、その状況を素早く理解すること。
そして前後の文脈からイディオムの意味合いを推測してみるトレーニングをするのが良いでしょう。
I bought this tablet 3 years ago.
At first I used it frequently.
But now it has become less important.
(Actually I haven’t used it for the first time 3 months.)
The reason I came up with are:
The screen size of new smartphone is getting bigger and bigger.
A smartphone can cover main role of this tablet(watching movies).
The weight of this tables is a little bit heavy to carry on everyday.
The biggest reason is that android 2.3 become obsolete in 2015.
Of course, it has some advantages compared to smartphones,
It battery lasts longer.
Software keyboard is much easier to type quickly.
It’s not suitable for playing the latest games.
but it is enough to play musics and movies.
Does anybody want to use it?
In Japan, a left rear door of taxi is automatic door.
Everybody think it is ordinary thing.
But outside japan, the situation is the opposite.
Since I had used a taxi overseas often (and I rarely use a taxi in Japan) , I got used to manual door taxi.
Today, I took a taxi to move another office.
I closed the left rear door as usual,
I noticed that now I’m in Japan, there is no need to close it manually.
“what’s the hell am I doing?” I thought.
It’s hard to switch my habit which is once acquired.
I sometimes cross a road even if a car is approaching!
As I did it in the Philippines.
But it’s very dangerous in Japan.
Important notice:
I don’t mean to hurt people who like Jasmine tea.
Recently at the shop I used often, there is only jasmine tea 1 liter pack.
There is no green tea 1 liter pack!
But I do not like jasmine tea.
The reason is not taste but smell.
In Japan, A toilet deodorant has jasmine smell.
To me, drinking jasmine tea is like drinking tea in the toilet!
That’s why I do not like jasmine tea.
But I have no choice to but it,
I hope I will get used to it.
20 years has passed since Great Hanshin earthquake hit the kobe region.
At first I felt uncomfortable with this “Great” word,
Because in Japan, great is only used for good thing.
When I heard this term in NHK world, I was going to protest to NHK.
Later, I found out that other big earthquake has same “Great” prefix,
English “Great” has more meanings than what I think.
Great also means “intense” or “very strong”.
When I met schoolmate of MBA,
My friend spoke about taxi scam story in Manila.
When he wanted to go another terminal,
Taxi driver tried to cost him 2000 pesos at Manila International airport!
It is equal to 5400 yen!
He paid 100 peso (It was reasonable price!).
But the driver would not accept.
Then he added another 100 peso.
Since there is the rumor that Manila is very famous for taxi scam,it proves the rumor is true!
If I had experienced this situation, My image of this country would have been completely different!
by the way the cheapest way to move around between terminals is taking free shuttle bus.
(but it takes more take than taxi!)
